UNLH have been awarded an Emergency Response funding by the Arts Council funding. The funding has been made possible thanks to the National Lottery and its players.

This funding will allow us to gain a deeper understanding of the impacts Covid-19 on the local community particularly on arts and cultural provision. We will conduct local research with the funding into the impact of Covid-19 on our community, it will also help us to implement a Library or Archive of Voices – stories captured through short interviews with the community about the impact of Covid 19 and also inform our recovery planning. Secondly, funding will develop and expand our new virtual Services provision through our live-streaming by engaging and using rich content from a diversity of artists (all backgrounds) in our community. It will also support regular digital inclusion classes for seniors, using this opportunity to engage them with online cultural activities and promoting social inclusion. We will also invest in some lives-streaming equipment to ensure we produce high quality content at all times.

By engaging and supporting local artists we hope to expand our digital and virtual services while feeding back into the artistic community who have been financially affected by Covid-19.

You can find out more about our live streaming and virtual services here: https://www.uppernorwoodlibraryhub.org/upper-norwood-library-hub-live-streams/ or by following us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/UpperNorLibHub

#NationalLottery

Arts Council England is the national development agency for creativity and culture. By 2030 we want England to be a country in which the creativity of each of us is valued and given the chance to flourish, and where every one of us has access to a remarkable range of high-quality cultural experiences.  Between 2018 and 2022, we will invest £1.45 billion of public money from government and an estimated £860 million from the National Lottery to help deliver this vision. www.artscouncil.org.uk

Following the Covid-19 crisis, the Arts Council has developed a £160 million Emergency Response Package, with nearly 90% coming from the National Lottery, for organisations and individuals needing support.  Find out more at www.artscouncil.org.uk/covid19
