Dance Conversations- Intergenerational Dance Project

Intergenerational dance project, challenging audience perceptions of dance and age. Bringing community and professional dance artists together. This project seeks to offer a valuable creative experience for the community with an input from professional artists.

Call for participants:

Upper Norwood Library Hub and Choreographer Ania Straczyńska are looking for participants for Dance Conversations - Intergenerational Dance Project.

The project invites members of our local community to participate in three 2h dance workshops introducing the basics of contemporary dance and choreographic tools. The three workshops, held once a week, will culminate in a weekend of filming. The dance film produced will be inspired by pre-collected interviews with our community, reflecting on lockdown experiences, the stories collected will be retold through dance. The final piece will be live streamed by Upper Norwood Library Hub.

We are keen on having people of various ages and from different backgrounds join us. Dance experience is welcomed but not essential! We are especially keen on having members of the same family involved - for instance dads with daughters, etc. Any young people should be over 12 y/o to participate.

My work has been commissioned by The Place Theatre, Rose Theatre Kingston, Chisenhale Dance Space, P21 Gallery and Roehampton University (to name a few). I  have been working as a dance teacher/facilitator for organisations such as DanceWest, East London Dance School and Sutton College, working with a diverse group of participants from preschoolers to the elderly.
